I must say that my childhood was a bit magical. So many days spent exploring quietly with little thought to much else but the moment I was in. On these busy, adult days I am grateful for all that peace and good energy I was given as a little one. Pure bliss. This video is more for me as a bookmark to remember, but starring my favorite little loves with hopes a little of that magic will spread to them with each visit to my first H O M E.

Happy Birthday Little Miss Four

It is indescribable to relate how blessed I feel each day with you. One, two and three were such amazing adventures (and I am already loving four!). You are always full of hugs, laughter and thoughtful chatter. You fill us all with so much joy! Happy birthday, little you!

In the morning, you woke to find many little fairies had built houses in our yard to come and celebrate with you.

When it was time to party, you dressed in a Momma made tutu, wings from Elizabeth and other bits and pieces from the year of 3.

Friends arrived and we all made wings and wands with markers, bells, pipe cleaners and paper plates. Everyone had a fun, silly time.

We had a yummy carrot cake you helped make and placed on it were all the little flags from each fairy house.

Wood sprite Kasper was working really hard all day to "JING!" his little bulldozer into a big bulldozer.

And you received lots of wonderful gifts. Momma spent many long hours trying to make you a "tinkerbell" fairy using a Jess Brown doll as inspiration. I know you love it, thanks for that - that is why I love you.

Happy Birthday our little AnaSofia! Welcome to four!

Creativity
My huge artist crush on this cool lady has influenced many art and decorating projects over the past few years. My "when I am fifty" fantasy has always been to get an apartment in NYC to visit one weekend a month to immerse myself in one of my favorite cities. I would not mind having a place in Brooklyn to feel the vibe of Ann and other creative people that I have not had the pleasure to meet in this life! Such a good imagination, eh?
The kids and I made a paper mache boat from Ann's tutorial this week and had such a fun time creating something quickly that was so magical in completion. We used my Dad's old college vertebrate biology text for paper so it has little notes in his handwriting underneath the tissue paper and some antique ribbon (very Danish!) for the sail. We all are enjoying talking about sailing on the oceans and the places we would go!

I didn't get the best photos of its character but you will just have to make one for yourself to see how wonderful it can be!

Independence Day with Friends
I am an introverted person and spend a lot of time thinking and relish time alone. I love people and feel joy from being busy with friends, but always need an afternoon to myself to calm my mind and center myself. I tend to have spontaneous bursts of wild energy followed by moments of quiet. I feel grateful for those friends who know me well and embrace me for being me. We were thankful this Independence Day to have a visit from two such wonderful people. Jess and I met our first semester at college when she fondly remembers I hugged her early in our friendship and it caught her off guard. The following year we had adjoining rooms in our dorm and that revelry is one of the best times of my life. I felt that I had found such a true friend and am so happy we have been able to see each other all these following years. This weekend was such a time of joy and rejuvenation for me and my little family.

Summer fruits
I have such fond memories of my fourteenth summer, picking strawberries for 25 cents a quart. The money was poor but the memories were rich! I loved working in the hot sun and making new friends that I had never been able to hang out with before because we lived too far from "town." Most summers were spent hiking in our woods and fields, riding my bicycle and cuddling with the many rabbits I raised each year. Each strawberry season I am reminded of the little moments that summer when I grew much older in many ways and learned the lesson of a nickel earned.
Kasper, AnaSofia and I went picking strawberries and raspberries today to remember where our food comes from and harvest some fruit for this summer, fall and winter. We froze many and made jam but ate at least two quarts in the field and four more by the end of the weekend! They both had a fun time and were respectful of the farmer's field- and for that I am quite grateful!

Happy picking!
