Lake Love

Land Ahoy!

I am loving the long summer days around here... Everyone has time to work and play and hopefully a little energy left over for some family excursions. This past weekend we canoed to our favorite little island on the lake to splash in the water and make a campfire to cook dinner.

Loving these quiet moments of family time, visiting all these special places we have enjoyed over the years and watching the joy of the kids as they explore it all for the first time.

Pea TeePee

Little fairy houses have been popping up around here in anticipation of a special birthday coming up. We started building structures with pieces of nature early this Spring with branches from a tree Soren cut down. AnaSofia and I dug holes and planted peas and then have been trying to train them up the poles as the season goes on. This fun has evolved to building small fairy houses for all the friends AnaSofia is sure are out in the forest. I'll share some more photos as her birthday approaches. Here is the pea teepee that we are hoping will yield some sweet peas for us very soon!

An unexpected helper! We have quite a few turtles trying to lay eggs in the yard.

Kasper loves waking up from nap to see what we have created, and subsequently tries to destroy it... Devilish grin!

Happy Father's Day

Yay! A day to celebrate the big guy in the family - a very fun, silly and special guy whom we all love to spend time with. I am in awe of his energy at work and that he still has so much love to give when he walks through the door. We decided to get outside for the weekend and test the kids' resolve for camping together. We went to Sand Beach to see friends and dig in the sand, took a hike to another secluded beach early the next morning and got sticky from s'mores and sunscreen in between. Kasper was over the top excited about camping and took over a half hour to fall asleep while throwing himself from person to person in the tent and giggling hysterically. Definitely a Father's Day to remember! I feel so blessed to have a partner like Soren and my own father as great role models to our kids. FarFar will be here soon to add some of his fun energy to the mix, we can't wait!!!

Feeling grateful for the wonderful weather this summer and the time we are able to spend together just being us.

Family...

I needed it... A little visit from my parents, a little love and comfort! Thank you so much for coming and for bringing us such joy!
It amazes me to observe the fun energy my parents have, what they can accomplish in a day and how I feel more centered and calm just being around them. Wish they could always be close by! We are excited for more family to come visit soon.

Wishing you all have a little time to slow down and enjoy time with family...

Remembering...

Nine blissful years with a wonderful, furry friend... We are all so grateful you were a part of our lives for so long.

You are missed.

Summer pants sewing

Kasper was in desperate need of new pants, he is growing so quickly right now! I found some great mushroom fabric downtown and decided to try a new pattern I found for a cloth diapered bum here that I wanted to try. I love free patterns that aren't patterns at all, it saves time! The pants came out all right, although too small in the bum for a cloth diaper with the adjustments I made (I cut the square 7 x 13 squares 7x 9 because they looked wrong to me...). Maybe 7 x 10 will be better, I am trying that with a pair tonight!

AnaSofia wanted a matching skirt with a "BIG center pocket." It is so big she carried around a few parsnips, a "suitcase" (her words for the numerous purses she is always cramming things into for trips around town) and a few cars for Kasper to play with (she puts a car in her suitcase for him always, it is really cute!).

Now all my sewing machine efforts are focused on AnaSofia's birthday and the big, special, handmade present I am hoping to do for her. It will be a big challenge and I am getting really excited for it! Those are the fun projects for me, I know I am on the right track when I am feeling a little fear mixed in with a lot of excitement...
