She's Got Spots!

Last Saturday I thought AnaSofia had been attacked by mosquitos at night and ordered Soren around the whole house sealing up holes and putting new screens in the windows but... the spots kept coming! A call to Dr. Adams confirmed it, the little monkey has chicken pox! A month before most kids get their vaccine. Poor little thing! Being the little trooper AnaSofia is, she is taking it in STRIDE and doesn't even notice them. She is one tough cookie! I am debating whether she should still get the vaccination, even though the pediatrician recommends it. Anyone having children, READ all the literature on vaccinations. I am really regretting letting her get all of them according to the schedule set by the Pediatric Association. I feel like a bad Mom after reading more about it... Ugh. In any case, AnaSofia is healing and she and I are heading to NY to visit Boppa and Nana tomorrow. Can't wait!!!!
I am still cursing whoever took their kid out with chicken pox and infected her!!!! WHO DID IT??? Then after 7 days in the house with her and no other human contact (okay, besides Soren) I started to sympathize with the other mom, a little... And decided to take AnaSofia to the Witter Farm to see the animals we read about in her books. I figured we can't infect cows and horses right?! She loved it!

Hey, this is Jaika--we met at Thomas' birthday party. I'm so sorry to hear that AnaSofia has "the pox." Lots of sympathy and prayers being sent your way! You must have quite the case of cabin fever; hang in there and if you ever want another adult conversation, Heather's got my #. Oh, and what's the info. you're reading about vaccinations?
I must admit, I've been pretty pro-vaccination. Jack caught rota virus at 2.5 mos. old--it was a really scary thing. Because he was so small, he got really dehydrated, and his system was so busy fighting the virus that he caught a cold, which then developed into atypical pneumonia...It was awful. We ended up being in the overnight peds unit at the hospital for a week. Once I read about the rota vaccination, I totally had this whole "if only he'd had this shot" moment. I mean, kids are gonna get sick, and catch things, and give things, & etc., and I totally want to protect him from ever being so dangerously ill again, but then you hear about the vaccinations themselves being dangerous, and it becomes really difficult to decide if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Anyway, sorry if I went off on a rant there. I hope you and AnaSofia are doing better now!
Fondly,
Jaika
